When people hear the word “idol” or “idolatry” they normally think of primitive people who bow down to wooden statues. While “bowing down” is a dynamic of idolatry, there is much more than that and it’s just as relevant to us today as it ever has been. Why? Because an idol is “anything more fundamental than God to your happiness, meaning on life, or identity” says Timothy Keller in his book Counterfeit Gods.
